A post office in east Belfast has been robbed. The premises on the Beersbridge Road were the target of the armed robbery on Friday evening. Just before 9pm, it was reported that two masked males entered the premises both armed with a suspected firearm. The PSNI said: “It is believed that a female member of staff was threatened during the incident, but was not harmed. The males made off with a sum of money and a quantity of cigarettes. “The males are believed to have made off towards the Hyndford Street area on foot before possibly making off towards the Beersbridge Road on bicycles.” Police said that one of the men was described as being 5’6” tall, medium build, wearing a dark coloured hooded top with bright blue gloves, grey trousers with stripes on the side and black trainers. A PSNI statement added: “The other male is described as 5 ‘9” tall, slimmer than the first, wearing a dark hooded top , black peaked cap, grey jeans, black and trainers possibly converse and carrying a grey rucksack.” Police would like anyone with information about the incident to contact CID in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
